Alex Biddulph grew up in Staffordshire and joined the British Army in 2007, commissioning into the Royal Artillery.

Having always been a budding artist, as a means of passing time between patrols during operational deployments to Afghanistan, he filled sketchbooks with observational drawings from the Green Zone of Sangin in 2010, to the closedown of Camp Bastion and eventual withdrawal from Helmand Province in 2014; subsequently, many of these were published in the book ‘Drawing the Front Line’.

These days opportunities to sketch are fleeting and are mainly limited to producing joint fires observer panoramas as part of the day job, however when chance presents itself, drawing, painting, and photography are all mediums that he enjoys dabbling in.
