Florals, Landscape

Acrylic paint and pencil

I am a British abstract artist living in Calasparra, Murcia, where the extraordinary light, dramatic landscapes and vibrant colours of southern Spain have transformed my painting practice.

Before becoming a full-time artist, I served for fourteen years in the Royal Army Medical Corps, followed by eight years in the Army Reserve, completing my military career working on the First World War Centenary commemorations. Those experiences gave me a lasting appreciation of memory, place and the stories landscapes can hold.

Working intuitively with layers of acrylic paint, I create expressive abstract paintings that explore memory, emotion and the transformative power of colour. Rather than depicting the landscape directly, I seek to capture its atmosphere and energy. Hidden marks, scraped surfaces and luminous passages emerge through successive layers, inviting viewers to slow down and discover new relationships within each work.

My recent collections include floral abstractions, lavender landscapes, the Pressure Bands series, and paintings inspired by the streets and countryside of Calasparra. Although rooted in a specific place, my work speaks to universal experiences of joy, resilience and transformation.

I believe abstract painting is an invitation rather than an explanation, creating space for each viewer to bring their own memories, emotions and interpretations to every painting.
